Snapsort Photography Website

As I said before I really wanted a DSLR camera because the compact olympus camera I use at the moment really isn't up to doing much and I said that I was thinking about the Nikon D3100 because obviously I've never had a DSLR before. I have been searching around a bit because even though the camera is relatively cheap for what it is, to me its a large amount of cash. I've been looking at loads of reviews and comparisons all across the web but as soon as I came across Snapsort I stopped looking. It contains every possible detail of the camera as well as most other cameras and offers what I thought was most impressive was the discussion section which contained a certain person who was asking all the exact questions that I would have asked. It covers everything I would want to know about photography and has videos of tutorials and reviews. I used to look at photography magazines for comparisons on this camera but Snapsort is so much more helpful there is no need to waste money when all this freely accessible info is on their website. It also tells you all of the prices like it has a mini price comparison website built in. But I noticed on their blog that they are holding a contest for which the prize is the exact camera I have been looking at: the D3100
I think this is a great opportunity and an amazing competition as well as an amazing website but  see for yourself how good it is.

Feedback: There isn't anything that I know of that would make the site better but to give some feedback I would say more advertising to get to the site. If I had found out about this website sooner it would have saved a lot of time going around the uninformative websites not really finding much out. Maybe a lot of advertising in photography magazines and their respective websites if you can.

Haircuts and a heavy south westerly

I got my hair cut today, I know really exciting! While I was in St. Andrews today i took a picture of west sands since I was there to check how good the waves were. The conclusion I have reached is Not Very. See for yourself below. These waves are less than a foot tall and it looks as if they are being forced by the wind back out to sea. It turns out that in some places there are 70mph gales coming from the SW.
St. Andrews is basically our town even though we live 10 miles away we go there for everything like food and I used to go to school there. I was standing right under where point B is on the map when I took these photos of west sands (I was looking North). I live somewhere around point A and my bedroom window looks South and I can see Shell Bay. I had never thought of this before but actually the best place to surf would be there. For some reason St. Andrews is just the place to go surfing. You can see that the SW wind would come across the Firth of Forth dragging up large waves. I looked through the telescope out of the window and although unclear I could see large swells that looked to be about 6 feet tall. I tried to take a picture but its too far away to see anything and when I press the lense of my camera (Olympus compact) everything blurs and the camera sounds like its trying to commit suicide. I might try surfing there tomorrow ill tell you if I do.

1st Actual Post

Now that you know who I am i'm going to talk about today. Today is the first day of the Easter holidays for me so I decided to be as spontaneous as I can.....and do as little as possible but today has ended up being kind of interesting. Interesting in that I started this blog today which doesn't happen everyday but I also pretty much decided that i'm going to buy a camera.(Nikon D3100 very shiny) I can use it to make an  entry into to the school photography competition and I also like taking pictures. From now on (even though im using a crappy camera) im going to try and take a picture of the interesting things I do. Like today I took a picture of the barbecue outside because today was the first time this year we have used it to cook dinner. I thought it was interesting because it was around 5-10C in our garden.

I just stopped writing to download some songs I'm not exactly legit when it comes to doing this but its so easy i don't really see it as that harmful i just type in the name of a song into google but write mediafire (a download hosting website) after it. Its usually the top result I just click the link in the page that says "click here to download"(not too complicated) today I have 'acquired' S&M(Rihanna) Black and Yellow(Wiz Khalifa) Champion (Chipmunk feat. Chris Brown) I'm Coming Home (Diddy feat. Dirty Money)
I've also thought of a completely genius idea I might keep a notebook or something somewhere where through the day I'll write down anything clever I think of or awesome that I do.
               I also played CoD today.

Hello Everyone

Hi im Alex I created this blog because basically I think my life is more interesting that it gets credit for. I have a lot of interests that a few people I know don't know about. I thought of doing a blog a while ago but it was only when I woke up this morning(the first day of the holidays) that I decided to actually do it. I realised that I needed something to do in the holidays during the long days I would be spending here in the dull and rainy scottish countryside. Perhaps if it had been sunny and warm outside I might not have created this blog but nobody will ever know (or care....) I was thinking about whether I should try and describe what has happened in my life so far but I think that instead if I see something of interest Ill say something about it or its past.
For instance next to my computer are a pair of drumsticks and some music, I play the side drum its an instrument played in a pipe band with bagpipes thats sort of difficult but in a different way to other instruments. My drum teacher shouts at me a lot saying I don't practise enough, he's right but its not my fault its all down to my very interesting life (at least in term time anyway). For instance on 1 particular tuesday I had half hour of swimming then an hour and a half of rugby before an hour of cricket practice which was then followed by me running to my half hour long drum lesson after which I had tea then an hour of hockey practice. Its easy to see how interesting my life gets on a tuesday in spring but in summer I do Tennis as well but most importantly I love surfing. I'm not really that good, but of everything I do, I love surfing the most. You may have picked up the sly hint from the background image demonstrating this.
From now on I'm going to try and talk about what I do each day in each post.
